Award winning Design concept

SAP Fiori is well-known for its user-friendliness and optimal user experience. In short; it is all about providing an overview of relevant information per user, out of the SAP system(s), to make work processes user-friendly and thereby efficient. A user-friendly environment is not an illogical goal to set when it comes to Frontend. Then what is it that makes SAP Fiori extraordinary? It is not for nothing that the SAP Fiori UX design concept won the reddot award in 2015. SAP put a lot of thought in the design of applications and the priorities of this process.

This mindset and the five design principles are all included in the SAP Fiori Design Guidelines. The use of these guidelines is written out thoroughly and using them can guarantee some benefits.

Advantages of the SAP Fiori Guidelines:

1. A simple look, feel and handling.

SAP Fiori can be used by different users and for different roles and tasks. Due to the same design concept every screen is recognizable and intuitive.

2. Better onboarding users

The Design Principles and the Design concept were developed especially for the end-user. By putting the guidelines into use an intuitive application will emerge. Onboarding won’t be a problem.

3. Faster development

Why reinvent the wheel? The use of a proven concept is simpler and takes less time.

4. Easier testing

Because of the design concept an app can be tested in a specially developed tool. This will give you insights in an early stage of development.

5. One team, one language

By using the same tick boxes it is easier to communicate within a project team.

The Design Concept is based on the following principles: Rolbased, coherent, simple, adaptive and delightful. Like Oliver IT likes to say: “An app should see to happy end users.” Next to the Design Principles SAP is putting other basic elements in use for SAP Fiori. For example the SAP Fiori Launchpad. The Launchpad is a central access point for relevant apps. The Launchpad also provides options for navigation, personalization, support and configuration. More about that in our previous blogs about SAP Fiori.
